2020 Tax Owing due to COVID19 Benefits? Worried to pay by April 30, 2021? Shouldn’t be!

Don’t Miss the Late Payment Opportunity!! Tips for Growing Money!

Most of you completed your tax filing, I believe. Some may have a refund, some may owe the CRA. If it happens due to the COVID19 Benefits (CERB, CESB, CRB, etc.), then you do not pay the full tax owing money to the CRA by April 20, 2021.

Eligibility Criteria set by the CRA

1. 2020 Taxable income $75,000 or less

2. Received COVID19 Benefits (CERB/CESB/CRB/CRCB/CRSB/EI/Provincial Emergency)

3. You must file your 2020 tax return by April 20, 2021.

Common Mistake!!!!

In Canada, all tax filing is individual. $75,000 is not the family income! It means, the person who received the benefit must have $75,000 or less. If the spouse earned more than $75,000 does not matter.

Tricks!

The person who received the benefit and met the eligibility criteria stated above should call the CRA and ask for making an “Individual Tax Payment Arrangement” based on your earnings and budget.

CRA Contact Number

Phone number for making an individual tax payment arrangement is different from the general line and is 1-888-8657 (7 am – 8 pm ET).

Unable to Catch the CRA Agent!!

Don’t worry! Just fill up the “Individual Tax Debt Call Request” form and a call centre agent will call you shortly, in most cases the same day (8 am – 8 pm ET).
